Communications Director

The Director of Communications is responsible for overseeing the communication and marketing strategy for GT Church and for providing leadership to the communications team. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values, and strategy of GT and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision and values. The Director of Communications will lead all components of communications and marketing to add inspiration, motivation and clarity to church messages. This full-time position will collaborate with others to effectively reach a wide range of audiences including the community, church, volunteers and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Work with ministry teams to define and develop messages to church-wide, ministry specific, and community audiences
  • Evaluate messages and materials
  • Create and implement a strategy for communicating stories of life-change within the church
  • Develop and maintain a local community presence
  • Oversee the implementation of the look and feel of the GT brand across a range of mediums
  • Lead and mentor the GT Communications staff team
  • Develop policies and procedures related to media relations
  • Recruit, train and lead communications volunteers

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of marketing, communications, PR, or other related field
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, adapting copy to match the medium through which it is being communicated
  • Strategic and energetic, with a passion for the church to be concise, clear, and creative in its communications
  • An eye for good design and an awareness of current creative, communications, and technological trends
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Highly relational, intuitive personality
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in marketing or communications
